According to the History of the Three Kingdoms, Wunvshan city was built in 34 BC by Koguryo people led by Meng Zhu. There are three gates in the city. This is the south gate of the ancient city, located in the southeast corner of the mountain city. The south gate is exquisitely designed, and the natural cliff is used as one side of the city wall, while the artificial wall blocks the gentle mountain ridge on the other side, which can attack the enemy here on both sides, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack. The total length of the wall on the mountain is 424 meters, which is made up of natural cliff walls and artificial walls. The upper end is closely connected with the cliff of Commander Appointment Stage, and the lower end is a cliff in the transverse direction with with a length of more than 200 meters and a depth of more than 20 meters, which forms a "T" shaped gate for soldiers, civilians and horses entering and leaving the mountain city. It can be compared with the Acropolis in Athens, and can be called the "First Acropolis in the East". The wall is made of spindle-shaped stones. The outside is covered with wedge-shaped stones. The stones are stacked in layers, which are exceptionally solid. It is called "Koguryo Stone" and has the eternal story of "Qin’s brick, Han’ tile and Koguryo’s stone". Today, after more than 2,000 years, the majestic appearance still remains, which appears to be telling the story of Koguryo people's intelligence and splendid history and culture.
